The Canton Joint Engineering Council which is made up of delegates from 12 engineering societies in the Stark County area, was formed by the Canton Regional Society of Professional Engineers in 1970. Its primary function is to coordinate and manage the National Engineers Week banquet held in late February of each year. In addition to the banquet, which is highlighted by a top quality speaker, CJEC Engineers week activities also include a water balloon drop contest (an engineering design event for high school students), a Mathcounts contest for 7th and 8th grade students, and the Engineer for a Day program in which engineering minded high school students visit area companies to view applied engineering.

Other functions of CJEC throughout the year include the awarding of scholarships to deserving college engineering students and publishing a technical society program directory so that each engineering group is made aware of other technical programs in the area.
